Gone are the days when glass acted as a shield between you and the outside world. Over a period of time it has become a very vital and integral part of Windows. These days glasses serve multiple purposes. Glasses for your windows should be selected on the basis of your various requirements such as Sound, Safety, Thermal Insulation, Wind load resistance etc. Deltra provides you the various Glass Options as part of its affordable solutions:

Float:
This is standard flat glass which is widely used in Windows where there is not much requirement of Sound/Safety/Thermal insulation. It gives high visibility and clarity of the outside view. It is vulnerable to break in's.

Heat Strengthened:
It is produced by heating the glass to approximately 1300oF and then rapidly cooling it with air. The resultant glass is thermally strengthened and is 2 times stronger than the piece of Float Glass. It significantly reduces the breakage potential due to thermal and bending stresses. It can also withstand heavy wind load conditions.

Toughened:
Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal glass. The glass when broken, crumbles into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury. It provides enhanced security to windows as it is 3-4 times stronger than normal float glass.

Double Glazing:
It is also known as Insulated Glazing. It is double glass where the layers are separated by an air or other gas filled space to reduce heat transfer across a part of the building envelope. It also enhances the effectiveness of air conditioners and is ideal for rooms which are constantly exposed to the Sun and Heat.

Triple Glazing:
It is similar to that of Double Glazing. Here there are 3 different layers where each layer is separated by a spacer. Spacer can be of steel or fiber material. The spacer reduces heat flow to a large extent and due to its sound dampening characteristics; it is best suited where external noise is an issue.

Laminated:
Laminated glass consists of a tough protective inter-layer made of Polyvinyl Butyral resin bonded together between two panes of glass under heat and pressure. Once sealed together the glass behaves as a single unit and looks like normal glass. Laminated glass is used for safety against injury by keeping the broken glass within the frame. Laminated glass is also great for reducing sound transmission and is found in airports, museums, schools and libraries to keep out unwanted noise such as airplanes, heavy machines and traffic.
